Procedure for Creating VM Guest servers in Virtual Center 2.0

Step 1.

Log onto VirtualCenter with an account with adequate rights to begin creating VM Guests systems

Step 2 .

There are currently two Data Centers that have been created in VirtualCenter 2.0, Production and Development. Templates have been created in each of these objects as objects cannot be deployed across these logical boundaries

Step 3.

Click on the Inventory tab and choose the Virtual Machine and Template view

Step 4.

Pick the Template that corresponds to the build required (information obtained from the server build sheet provided by Project Manager assigned) and right click. This will display the menu shown below. From this menu, choose Deploy Virtual Machine from this Template

Step 5

Enter the name of the Virtual Machine (this is very important, as the name that is chosen will not only become the Virtual Machine name but will also be the name of the VMDK file that is associated with the Virtual Machine) and choose the Data Center that will contain the new instance and click Next

Step 6.

Choose the cluster the VM will be deployed to and click Next

Step 7.

Choose the Host server for the VM to be powered on and click Next.

Step 8.

Select the OS Datastore that will be utilized and click Next.

Step 9.

Select the customization specification for the VM from the listing shown below.

Step 10.

Click Finish to end the creation process.
