Moving Citrix Oracle Datastore to Another Oracle Server

6:49 PM

Just prior to beginning the process of moving the datastore, the Oracle DBA should make a backup of the existing Citrix Oracle datstore and restore that datstore to the new location. This will need the same rights as the original datastore unless a new account is created to replace the current account owner.

1. Log into a Citrix application server in the Citrix farm you want to move the Citrix Oracle datastore
2. From a command prompt run "qfarm" or "query farm" to get a listing of the servers in the farm.
Server Transport Network Address
-------------------- --------- --------------------
IADAPP01P* TCP/IP 10.100.xx.xx D
IADAPP02P TCP/IP 10.100.xx.xx
IADAPP03P TCP/IP 10.100.xx.xx
IADAPP04P TCP/IP 10.100.xx.xx
In the example above: IADAPP01P (Note the *) is the server the query was executed from and the data collector in this case is also IADAPP01P (Note the D).
If the datacollector is not the server you are logged into, log into the datastore server and execute the below processes.
3. Locate the tnsnames.ora file and note the IP, port and service_name.
4. Loacate the "Independent Management Architecture" folder and make a copy of the entire folder
5. Locate the mf20.dsn in the "Independent Management Architecture" folder and note the UID, DBQ and Server.
UID is the account used to log into the Oracle Citrix datastore
DBQ should match the tnsmanes.ora service_name.
Server should match the tnsnames.ora service_name also.
6. Stop the IMA service (Citrix Independent Management Architecture) on only the data collector server
7. Modify the tnsnames.ora file with the new IP, port and service name.
8. Modify the mf20.dsn file with the new values for UID, DBQ and server.
9. Copy the modified mf20.dsn and tnsnames.ora files to the proper locations on all the Citrix servers that will be using the new datastore.
10. From a command prompt on the datacollector server run "dsmaint recreatlhc".
"dsmaint recreatlhc" rebuilds the local cache copy of servers in the farm
11. Restart the IMA service
12. Perform the below steps for the remaining servers in the farm
a. Stop the IMA service
b. Run "dsmaint recreatlhc"
c. Restart the IMA service
13. Test the Citrix applications
On primary data collector (sjccalypad050p) do these steps first
1. Backup datastore, do not make any changes to Farm.
2. Restore datastore to new oracle server
3. Add modified tnsnames.ora file
4. Change ODBC mf20.dsn to point to the new DB server.
5. Stop IMA service on Primary Data Collector
6. copy modified mf20.dsn and tnsnames.ora to all citrix servers
7. DSMAINT recreatelhc
8. Start IMA
9. Repeat on remaining servers.
10. Test applications
