How do you remove a virtual disk from a Dell DAS array?
7:35 PM
Removing a virtual disk from a Dell DAS
array is not actually deleting any data. Rather, this action deletes
the virtual disk to host/host group mapping tying the right to use the
space to the host/host group. You can again assign this to the same
host or to another host that can see the disk as you see fit.
- Log into the Dell Modular Disk Storage Manager utility and click on
the Mappings tab. Select the virtual disk in question and select
Remove Mapping. You will be prompted with a warning screen. If you
want to proceed with the removal click on Yes. Otherwise click on No to
not remove the mapping.
- You can verify that the mapping is no longer there by reviewing the
right pane once the action is completed. Alternatively, you can go to
the logical drives and confirm the actual virtual disk is still defined
but is not associated to anything.
